Masters Represented for First Time

The newly formed New Earswick Swimming Club Masters Section attended their first gala on Sunday 10th Feb,at the Rotherham Metro long course meet at Ponds Forge Sheffield.

The newly formed group had 7 swimmers entered for individual and relay events.

The first medal of the day came in the morning session with a well fought swim to take silver medal in the 120+ years Medley Relay team (Julie Oliver, Sarah Helstrip, Jessica Sparnenn,  and Helen Taylor). The same team of 4 ladies took silver medal in the 120+ years freestyle relay in the afternoon session. All four ladies also swam in individual events gaining PBs in many of their swims.

In the 19/24 age group Mark Baldry and Emily Broadbent achieved some great times in the many events that they entered. Both swimmers are still juggling with swimming and university. They proved in their swims they both still love competing at major events.

In the 35/39 age group Masters Coach Alan Betteridge achieved PBs in all 4 events entered, in the morning session winning a bronze medal in the 50m Backstroke. In the afternoon session Alan took Silver Medal in the 50m Freestyle.

They are hoping to compete again in the Yorkshire Masters on 10th May in Scarborough.
