NEW EARSWICK MASTERS WIN MEDALS AT THE NORTH EASTERNS
The New Earswick Masters were once again in action at the North
Eastern Championships at the Neptune Centre Middlesboro.The
medals started coming early in the morning session with Julie
Oliver taking the bronze in the 40-44 years 50m Free, this was
followed by a bronze for Ian Smithson in the 18-24 years 50m
free and a silver for Alan Betteridge in 35-39 years 50m free.
This set the ball rolling for more medals with Emily Broadbent
swimming a pb and winning a bronze in the 18-24 100m backstroke
in the mens 100m back Mark Baldry swam to bronze medal position.
The next New Earswick swimmer to medal was Helen Taylor in the
35-39 years 100m I.M taking the bronze medal.The last medals of
the Morning session came in the shape of two golds one for the
ladies 200m free relay team (Emily Broadbent,Sarah
Helstrip,Helen Taylor,Julie Oliver),and one for the mens 200m
free relay team(Matt Chilton,Richard Ellis,Andy Howden,Dave
Norville).
New Earswicks swimmers were soon again in action in the 1st
of the afternoon sessions with Emily Broadbent first in the pool
and winning silver medal in the 18-24 years 200m Backstroke,
going one better Mark Baldry took Gold in 18-24 years 100m
breaststroke.
The womens and mens 50m Fly brought more medals for New Earswick
a Silver for Emily Broadbent 18-24 years,Helen Taylor winning
Agold in 35-39 years and in the mens Andy Howden took Silver in
the 40-44 years.
New to Masters swimming Matt Chilton took his first individual
medal in the 35-39 years 100m Free winning the silver medal.
This was closely followed by New Earswick winning gold in the
womens 200m medley relay (Emily Broadbent,Sarah Helstrip,Helen
Taylor,Julie Oliver) and a silver in the Mens 200m medley
relay(Matt Chilton,Richard Ellis,Alan Betteridge,Andy Howden).
The New Earswick Swimmers were ready for the last Afternoon
session with Dave Norville swimming a fantastic swim in the mens
60-64 years 200m free.
The Last session brought the most medals for the New Earswick
team Emily Broadbent took bronze in the 18-24 years 50m
breaststroke and Helen Taylor also taking the bronze in the
35-39 years.
In the mens 50m Breaststroke Mark Baldry swan to bronze medal
position and Richard Ellis taking silver in the 40-44 years.The
last individual medals came in the womens and mens 50m
backstroke Emily Broadbent took bronze in 18-24 years and a 1st
and 2nd came in the 35-39 years with Helen Taylor
taking the Gold and Sarah Helstrip taking the Silver, Julie
Oliver also took silver in the 40-44 years. The Mens 50m
Backstroke Saw Ian Smithson take bronze in the 18-24 years and
Andy Howden took Gold in the 40-44 years.
The last events of the day were the mixed relay teams New
Earswick took bronze in the 200m mixed free relay(Emily
Broadbent,Alan Betteridge,Sarah Helstrip,Matt Chilton).They also
took silver and bronze in the 200m mixed medley teams silver
went to (Emily Broadbent,Richard Ellis,Alan Betteridge,Julie
oliver) and the bronze went to (Matt Chilton,,Sarah
Helstrip,Helen Taylor,Dave Norville).
The New Earswick swimmers had a fantastic day and they are
looking forward to competing again hopefully before Christmas.
